FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE

Likening my numerous pair of shoes to men...
I'd say my sky high heels are those who're only good FOR BETTER...

To parties...
To glamorous evenings...
They're the best companions to be with.

Unfortunately, life is not always shining shimmering splendid...
So girls looking for THE ONE are searching for someone's who's good FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE.

I have not yet found my THE ONE...
But shoe-wise...YES!!!

During its glory days...
I could wear this pair even in parties.

It's yellow.
It's studded.
And yes...it has heels!!!

But even when I do business errands in wet markets...
This pair never lets me down.

It's water resistant.
It's comfortable.
And yes, it makes me look cute
even on rare occasions I'm just wearing
work clothes...

Unfortunately, it looks like my baby's going to say goodbye to me soon.
So for making my worst days bearable...
I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER MY YELLOW STUDDED SNEAKERS.

Trivia:
This baby even impressed our Former President now Congresswoman Gloria Arroyo.
Her assistant even asked me where I bought them because she said, "Madame wants one!" :D

THE SARTORIAL PICK

Just when I thought yesterday's going to be another ordinary day...

Did errands for my love, POPJUNKLOVE

I got this!!!

Got this from Ira Giorgetti of Power Plant Mall
while my friend and I scout for food we could
bring to the cinema...

...and look!!!!

I'll save this...
My MTRCB Card will expire soon. Huhu.

I've heard of sartiorialist-like photographers roaming around even here in the Philippines.
For instance, there's the men and women of Style Bible and Manila Streetstyle.
But my point is...I've never really been photographed by one...until yesterday!
And oh...I got a new haircut too!
Two whoopees for me!!!

I'll just show you guys the picture once it's posted on Rockwell's page already.
My cellphone photos of my outfit for the day...FOR SURE...will pale in comparison so I best just wait.
For now, I'll share the quote printed on the card they gave me.

For a girl who's still undecided as to which career path to choose...
...this quote just struck home.

ANOTHER TICKET!!!

8pm.
Already late for my 730pm training.
"It's okay. I'll only miss the warm-up throws," I thought.

*More thinking: What am I going to wear tomorrow?*
*More thinking: What time am I going to canvass for supplies?*
*More thinking: Oooh. I can't wait. I won't go to work tomorrow!!!*

Then I woke up from my stupor.
The scene before me caught me by surprise.
I wasn't on my way to training!
I unconsciously driven myself to where we usually hold bazaars!

*Laugh then more thinking.*
"I'll be the butt of jokes again later."
*Laugh then more thinking.*
" Hmmm...No NO-UTURN sign."

After I U-TURNED...

Flagged down by traffic enforcers
Got a ticket for obstruction of motor vehicles
*pfft* There goes my P500!

MORAL LESSON:
Stop living in your head.
LIVE FOR THE PRESENT.

*sigh*

Just when I thought I was having a good day...

Dress: Get Laud
Belt: Wholesale store in Quiapo
Bag: Thrifted
Leggings/Scarf: SM Dept. Store
Heels: SM Parisian

Silver lining (You know I hate ending on a sad note!)...
I DID NOT GIVE IN TO THE TEMPTATION OF JUST SHOWING MY MEDIA ID (Here in the Philippines, members of the media usually get away with traffic violations).
Later I'm off to claim my license at some unknown place in Makati.
I just hope and pray I won't be lost AGAIN and end up getting a ticket AGAIN!

MAKATI BUS BOMBING

While I was covering more than a decades old plunder case...

Military reps testify against Former military official
Carlos Garcia who was accused of amassing more
P300M from gov't coffers

...somewhere along Edsa...another RPN News Team was helping victims of the recent Makati bus bombing.

RPN9 only has 12 teams so the station rarely gets to be the first one on the scene...
But on that fateful day, a team was in the right place at the right time.

Photo from here.

It was a dark day in Philippine history but in a twisted way, a big day for the struggling station.
For me though, the reason is more than just having the exclusive video.

RPN Correspondent Dale De Vera

I am not really a fan of crime news stories.
(No offense to all my beloved colleagues in the graveyard beat).
It's just that for me, life is too short to surround myself with stories of hate, death and mourning.
But what made the Makati bus bombing footage a little bit bearable for me were rare scenes of hope, courage and gratitude.

When the RPN team stopped to help when no one else did, I saw hope in the eyes of victims...
When the team decided to help despite fears of another explosion, I saw courage...
When the victims got to the hospital, I saw gratitude from those lucky enough to get a second shot at life.

More information on the bombinghere

There's no doubt there's an UGLY, HORRIBLE side to this story...
It's just that...I prefer to focus on whatever good there is out there no matter how insignificant it may be.

I find it hard to smile when I think of bad things...
...and you know me...I LOVE TO SMILE.

CONGRESS REPORTER

"Now you could say...you've been to all beats."
This was what my boss said as a way of consoling me after his sudden announcement that he'll put me as the official reporter to cover Congress.

Technically...this is still not true because I have not yet experienced the graveyard and military beats but I opted to keep my mouth shut...
I don't like to wake up one morning with my boss saying, "As promised, I'll also assign you to the military and graveyard beats so you could TRULY say you've been EVERYWHERE."

I just recently read an entry about blogger authenticity from Brooke of wilywiley.
She underscored the importance of sincerity to get your message across to your readers.
Taking off from this point...
I wonder what I sincerely feel about this move...
Eat, Pray, Love Author Elizabeth Gilbert gave a good tip on expressing ones self.

PARLA COME MAGNI
"Say it like you eat it...
Say it as simple and as direct as Roman food."

I guess...the answer to my question is that the entrepreneur in me laments the fact that I might no longer have time to do business errands on work days...
The reporter in me (I want to believe) sees it as a challenge.
Whew!!! ...and what a debut I should say...

FIRST DAY SCHEDULE:
CONGRESSIONAL PROBE ON AN ALLEGED QUESTIONABLE PLEA BARGAIN AGREEMENT BETWEEN RP'S ANTI-GRAFT COURT
AND A FORMER MILITARY OFFICIAL ACCUSED OF AMASSING
AROUND 300 MILLION PESOS WORTH OF PUBLIC FUNDS

Anyway...that's a problem for later.
Right now, I'd prefer to relish my last day in the Special Reports beat.

To miss days when I have no crew and no coverage
Just me and Emmy stuck at the office, being vain :)
Accessory-making on work days
Blogging and coffee at the same time
Unfortunately today...I got the two mixed...literally
Spilled coffee on my Mac :(
the picture above shows my
my futile attempt to get the liquid to flow out
I'll name my MAC, MOCHA, from now on.

Hmmm...I wonder what I'll wear on my first day.

HOW TO SOLVE VARIABLES

Yes...that's how I spent my whole Sunday...
Trying to figure out how to solve variables.

And yes, I was wearing this get up while I was trying to hack my brain for any useful Math information I might have stored after all those years.
If only I allocated just a tinnie bit more space in my brain for Math and a tinsy bit less space for get up possibilities...

dress: Get Laud
necklace, scarf/belt: gift
bag: mango
boots: SM Parisian

I used to say, "Why the hell do we need to study all these?"
Well, now I know.
Every entrepreneur should know his or her numbers...
So in case, you're like me...
Let me make this easier for you.

TODAY'S LESSON
HOW TO SOLVE VARIABLES

Hypothetical problem: One container of Iskrambol has a total of 300g carbohydrates.
This is 10% of a person's daily dietary requirement. One container is equivalent to 25 cups.

Solution:
1. If one container is 300g and each container is equivalent to 25 cups...Each cup has:

2. So that part's easy...next...we need to figure out what's 12g in terms of percentage of daily dietary requirement.

3. To get the total daily carbohydrate requirement, we could utilize some of the figures in the problem. We know that 10% is .10, right? So here goes...

4. With this information, our only unknown variable is % of daily dietary requirement.

TADAAAAAHHHH!!!!

Blah! Blah! Blah!
I'm guessing I've already lost you guys at no 1?
*LOL*
But no worries.
Just in case you need the info, it's here.

And oh...
Why I needed to refresh my Math skills...?
For this...

In case you're wondering how I got this information,

ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK...

in this case...makes ROMA...
...a dull la-deeh!

Good thing I just got that movie break with my friends yesterday or else I would have felt deprived. :)

during the birthday of my movie-organizer-partner, Map

Saturday. Woke up around 930am.
Immediately worked on our scramble mixtures.
Went to our shop to deliver our concoctions.
Shopped for scramble cups...
Then fixed our company profile that will be submitted to prospective malls.

Got home around 6pm already.
Looked at my planner.
Found out I still have a lot of POPJUNKLOVE errands to attend to.

ZIPPER bracelet, just one of the TONS
of POPJUNKLOVE items I need to replenish

10pm.
Still have office tomorrow, Sunday.
Looked at my POPJUNKLOVE craft items and just said...
"NO MORE. I THINK I DESERVE A BREAK."

I rarely know when to stop so today, I'm glad I did.
At the back of my head, I heard my dad say...
"WHAT IS THE SENSE OF ALL THESE IF YOU'LL END UP SICK?"

Another thing I did for myself...
Dressed up even if we're just delivery ladies today.
"WHAT'S THE POINT OF ALL THESE RIGHT? IF I LOOK LIKE BLAAH?"

Look, the couch's a perfect match also!

THE GREEN HORNET

Okay...so I was supposed to write something about Season 10 of American Idol but since I just came from watching, "The Green Hornet", maybe I'll just start with that.

I hate spoilers so don't worry, this is not one.

I've heard of the super hero character, The Green Hornet, but I really had no clue who he was or what his superpowers are before the movie.

This is probably why I loved the film...because I really had no expectations whatsoever.
You know when you're a fan of a certain series or book...often you don't like the movie version? Fortunately, I was not in the said situation tonight and I'm glad.

It is a really funny film and a good movie to end a long hard week.
Though more on the comedy side...I still managed to get something out of it. :D

Stepping out of your comfort zone.
Seizing the day.
LIVING!!!

These basically sum up the theme of the story.
Much like American Idol. :)

Personally, I think the new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, are too kind. I believe there's a time to be constructive and a time to be nice. Unfortunately though, most of the time...they're on the nice side. There's even a time when they said "YES!" after one Idol aspirant cried.

*sigh*

But the series is still something I look forward to watching.
It's about dreams and people GIVING THEIR ALL FOR THAT DREAM even to the point of PUBLIC HUMILIATION.
To all the aspirants...you're already an inspiration and an idol whether you bag the title or not.

Hmmm...
Hope I'll soon have the guts to follow mine.
It seems, right now, I'm only courageous when it comes to my fashion choices.

Despite being my friends' subject of ridicule
for the night, I still love what they claim
was my boho-hippie-Indiana Jones outfit.

LOSING MY STEADY PAYCHECK

This is my greatest fear...and my greatest challenge.
All employee turned multi-millionaire entrepreneurs faced and hurdled this.
I am still an employee...I am not yet a millionaire.

*sigh*
THE SOLUTION:  "Yohoo! I'm just right in front of you!"

RPN Reporters
Okay, so the Universe gave me an opening...
...a chance to no longer think.

RPN9 will soon be privatized and the new management will not re-hire everyone.
See, I don't have to quit my job because we'll be technically resigned come privatization...

Vintage poster, treasures from my
soon-to-be totally demolished office

BUT WHY AM I STILL ENTERTAINING THOUGHTS OF RE-APPLYING?

...because deep down...I have not yet made the commitment.
I have yet to declare to the Universe,
"I AM NOT AFRAID OF LOSING MY STEADY PAYCHECK BECAUSE I CAN AND WILL MAKE IT WORK!"

So you see, the Universe did give me an opening...but it appears...
I WILL STILL HAVE TO MAKE THE DECISION.

Trying to do two loves at the same time
Selling Buko Pandan iskrambol
at the office :)

Silver lining...
I still have something in common with multi-millionaire entrepreneurs...
I may still be an employee and I may not yet be a multi-millionaire like them...

BUT AT LEAST I am going through the exact same dilemma they've gone through years ago.
This only means...I AM ON THE RIGHT TRACK! :) Pin It Now!

ALMOST DONE! ALMOST DONE!

Lookie, lookie!
My blog's transformation's almost done. :)
*sigh*

I'm in love.
*eyes twinkling*

This is the second time I fell in love TODAY.

The first one was with the idea of going to ITALY, visiting NAPLES and then eating THE margherita pizza of what many claim is the best pizza place in the world --- PIZZERIA DA MICHELE.

Photo grabbed here

Eat, Pray, Love Author Elizabeth Gilbert described her experience vividly.

"I love my pizza so much. In fact, I have come to believe in my delirium that my pizza might actually love me...I am having a relationship with this pizza, almost an affair."

Margherita Pizza

I know I want to travel the world someday but where?
I honestly haven't given this much thought yet...
...probably because of my love-hate relationship with directions and geography.

But now I am happy to say, "I HAVE ONE DESTINATION IN MIND!"
Hello Vision board!
Make space for NAPLES and MARGHERITA PIZZA!

HOW DO I LOOK?

Yes, if only my blog can speak...
Dang! I forgot to do a screenshot
of my blog before the makeover.

So why the sudden change?
Believe it or not...the reason still has something to do with my life's goals.

Using the firework option of our new digicam
on the 1st day of 2011 :)

Remember my New Year's Resolution -- To be FOCUSED in 2011.
In order to do that, I need to declutter some aspects of my life including this blog.
This way, I will be able to align everything to my goal of achieving ALL the targets that I've set for myself.
T. Harv Eker said, "What you focus on determines what you find in life."
So this simple blog design change is my way of "focusing". :)

Anyhoo...I'll dwell on this more once my blog's transformation is complete.
For now...How do I look? :) Pin It Now!
